Urban Teachers Lounge
Unapologetically for Black Teachers, Unapologetically by Black Teachers
Welcome to "Urban Teachers Lounge," the podcast produced by G. Funmilayo Tyson-Devoe, a dedicated public scholar and urban education activist. This platform serves as a vital bridge between educational scholarship and the experiences of classroom teachers. Unfortunately, the voices and stories of Black teachers in the U.S. public school system have been historically excluded, muted, or marginalized in academic, public, and political conversations.

Recognizing this gap, Urban Teachers Lounge has created a safe and empowering space for teachers across all levels (P-20) to openly reflect and share their experiences. Our mission is to foster collective validation, support, and a transformative rEvolution within the education landscape. Unapologetically designed for Black Teachers, and unapologetically led by Black Teachers, this podcast is part of a broader initiative to recruit, retain, and empower Black educators throughout their professional journeys.

Join us as we amplify Black teacher voices, shed light on their unique experiences, and contribute to a movement that aims to reshape and redefine the narrative in education. Urban Teachers Lounge: A hub for collective empowerment and the celebration of Black public school teachers.
